Meta’s Threads, the microblogging platform launched to compete with X (formerly Twitter), is testing a highly anticipated feature: post scheduling. This new capability allows users to compose posts and schedule them to go live at a specific date and time, a feature widely sought after by content creators and marketers aiming to streamline their workflows.
Currently, the post-scheduling feature is in the testing phase with a small group of users. Once fully rolled out, users will be able to access the functionality via the three-dot menu in the post composer. Scheduled posts will be stored in a draft folder, marked with their publication time. Users can also edit or delete these posts before they go live. Meta has not yet announced a timeline for the full release but assures it will be “soon”.
This update is part of Threads’ efforts to introduce features that cater to professional users. The platform has been releasing enhancements to stay competitive in the crowded social media space, including recent updates like landscape video viewing and customizable feeds. By adding post scheduling, Threads aims to provide users with more flexibility and encourage thoughtful, pre-planned content creation.
The move comes as platforms like X and Bluesky continue to innovate, keeping the competition for user engagement fierce. If successful, the feature could solidify Threads’ appeal among professionals and creators looking for robust tools on an emerging platform.
For now, users should ensure they have the latest version of the app to access new features as they become available.
