Apple Intelligence has seen an increase in storage requirements since its initial launch. Recent updates show that iPhones need at least 8GB of storage to support Apple Intelligence features, such as advanced Siri enhancements, Mail and Messages summaries, and intelligent photo editing tools .
Apple’s AI system relies on “adapters”—small sets of model weights that can be dynamically loaded to enable specific tasks like proofreading or summarization. These adapters individually take up tens of megabytes, but as more features are rolled out, the overall storage requirements are expected to grow .
Apple has also clarified that iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, and newer models, as well as iPads and Macs with M1 chips or later, will support Apple Intelligence. However, with future updates expected to bring additional features, users may need to consider devices with higher storage capacities, particularly for long-term usability .
