OpenAI has expanded its Advanced Voice Mode (AVM), bringing exciting updates to ChatGPT for paying customers in the Plus and Teams tiers. This upgrade introduces five new voices—Arbor, Maple, Sol, Spruce, and Vale—designed to enhance the naturalness of conversations. Alongside the new voices, the feature now supports over 50 languages and offers improvements in accent recognition, making interactions smoother and more responsive.
The design has also received a refresh, replacing the previous interface with a blue animated sphere, symbolizing more dynamic interactions. Furthermore, users can now benefit from Custom Instructions and Memory features, enabling personalization of responses and remembering conversation history for future reference. However, the voice and screen-sharing functionalities that were previewed earlier remain unavailable in this rollout.
This update follows a limited release earlier in the year, and while it's available to Plus and Team users, regions like the EU, UK, and several others are temporarily excluded.
The Advanced Voice Mode represents OpenAI’s push to make AI interactions feel more natural and intuitive, aligning with its broader mission to improve AI accessibility and human-like communication.
